Position Overview:
Klondike ISD is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to lead campus health services and promote the well-being of our students and staff. The School Nurse will provide professional nursing services, foster preventive health practices, and serve as a vital member of our student support team.
Qualifications
Education & Certification:
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program
- Valid Texas RN license (or compact license)
- Current CPR and AED certification
Special Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of health appraisals, screenings, and first aid
- Ability to implement health policies and procedures
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in documentation, record-keeping, and basic computer use
Experience:
- Nursing experience preferred (school or pediatric setting a plus)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care and develop Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) for students
- Assess and address student health concerns, communicate with parents, and coordinate care
- Administer medications according to district policy
- Conduct vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings as required
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records
- Serve as health advocate for students and resource for staff
- Participate in SPED/504 and ARD/IEP meetings as needed
- Respond to campus emergencies and support crisis management
- Supervise and train LVNs or health aides as assigned Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, and light to moderate lifting (up to 45 lbs)
- Exposure to communicable diseases and biological hazards ? Must maintain composure and sound judgment in stressful situations
